The scheme for Vocational Training Institute in tribal areas to impart training to youth who were school dropouts or had not pursued higher education was introduced by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. Government of India has sanctioned 13 Vocational Training Centres, in 10 ITDPs including Chhotaudepur, Valsad, Kaparada, Mandvi, Rajpipla, Dohad, Khedbrahma, Songadh, Ahwa-Dangs and Palanpur. These 10 VTIs include three for girls. These VTIs impart training in the trade of five trades.
- Radio, Transistor repairing
- Electrician
- Oil Engine and diesel mechanic,
- Beauty parlour,
- Leather and rexin work
- Refrigerator repairing
- Computer training
- Embroidery and fancy work and
- Bakery Udyog or a trade suitable to local needs. Each course is of three months and the V.T.I. inculcates skills to each trainee in any two trades. The course includes practical training of six months under a master artisan and after completion of training a loan / subsidy is given to the successful trainee to the extent of Rs. 10,000 from nucleus budget to establish himself. During the training, the trainee is paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 700/-.
