The Schedule Tribe population has lower literacy level in comparison with other sections of the society. Due to absence of higher secondary schools in tribal areas, students leave studies after getting primary education.

In order to cater to the medical coaching needs of the ST students and to do away with the vacant seats under ST category in Medical Colleges, a GUJCET coaching scheme was initiated.
